Antique Devoine Mavis Chocolates Oblong Tin w/ Paris New York Red Gold inscribed (7.5x4.5) This cool Edwardian art deco French design chocolate tin was my Grandmother's. She kept a large assortment of vintage buttons in this tin.(which I will be selling) Mavis was widely known for it's chocolate drink.Mavis originated in the 1920's as a chocolate drink sold in a Baltimore, MD chain of candy stores owned by Charles Guth. It was Guth who bought the bankrupt Pepsi-Cola company in 1931 after Coca-Cola would not give him a significant discount on fountain syrup used in the candy store soda fountains. After mixing company money with his own in questionable business dealings, Guth lost control of both Pepsi and the candy store chain in the mid 30's.
